things that make me go hmmm...

This ‘hmmm’ is not a ‘happy hmmm’ or a ‘sad hmmm’. Its not related to its (supposed) cousin the ‘naughty mmm’ or even the ‘yummy mmm’. Its just a thoughtful, at times pensive , at times ‘reflective hmm’. It could border on hapless irritation or could be in the crux of helplessness. It could be used in the place of a million words that one would rather not use at a give time and place. It could be used in the place of another million words that one wished one knew in order to appear as intelligent as one looks. All in all the ‘hmmm’ that I’m discussing here is miracle in itself!

So here’s a small tribute to ‘hmmm’… here are some of the things that make me go hmmm…
- Clearing a post grad exam one day and becoming an unemployed doctor the next day! (my god, the audacity!)
- Cds not working or getting stuck in the disc drive (that changed when my disc drive stopped working all together!)
- Lights of passing cars shining through the window at night (I prefer sleeping in pitch darkness)
- Clothes that I love not fitting properly (very upsetting, am dealing with the post-exam issue here!)
- Missing a movie show because everyone was arguing about which one to catch (times like that one would want to kill all their friends… I would! Slowly and painfully)
- Someone (the maid, in most cases) turning off/on the fan/light in the morning when I’m still in bed! (I wake up very very grumpy!)
- Phone showing the low battery sign when you need it the most! (happens to me all the time!)
- Not being able to remember all the other things that I had jotted down mentally. (I think I’m losing my memory... hmmm)

Thinking about what ticks... and what doesn’t
Thinking about future... the unsure, unprepared-for-events
Thinking about the memories filed in my ‘memory place’
The effort that I put to make meaning out of my work... and the satisfaction it gives me
Laughing (in my mind) about the preconceived notions people have about ‘life’
Wondering why I connect the way I do; though I’m not supposed to...
    And the songs...
    And a million other reasons...

There’s so much more to life... so much more to what meets the eye
